01 - Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
02 - In a skillet over medium heat, sauté ground beef and finely chopped onion until beef is browned and onions are tender. Drain excess fat.
03 - Stir in minced garlic and cook approximately 1 minute until aromatic. Remove from heat.
04 - In a large bowl, mix the cooked beef mixture with condensed cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, salt, black pepper, paprika, thawed hash browns, and 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese until thoroughly incorporated.
05 - Transfer mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it in an even layer. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Drizzle with olive oil or melted butter if a crisp topping is desired.
06 - Bake uncovered for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the surface is golden brown and the casserole bubbles at the edges.
07 - Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
