Strawberry Basil Mocktail (Print)

01 - 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
02 - 8 fresh basil leaves

03 - 1-2 tablespoons simple syrup or agave nectar, to taste

04 - 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
05 - 1 1/2 cups chilled sparkling water
06 - Ice cubes, as needed

→ Garnish (optional)

07 - 2 lemon wedges
08 - Additional basil leaves, for garnish

# Directions:

01 - Place the sliced strawberries and basil leaves into a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker. Use a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon to press until the strawberries release their juice and the basil is aromatic.
02 - Add 1-2 tablespoons simple syrup or agave and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice to the muddled mixture. Stir or shake briefly and taste; adjust sweetness if desired.
03 - Fill two serving glasses with ice cubes to chill.
04 - Divide the strawberry-basil mixture evenly between the two glasses over the ice. Top each glass with 3/4 cup chilled sparkling water and stir gently to combine.
05 - Finish with a lemon wedge and an extra basil leaf on each glass. Serve immediately while sparkling and cold.
